This car has been on my ‘to spot’ list for quite some time now, and finally: here it is. The little racing monster they call a Mini GP. I have stumbled across number 311 in a series of 2000, if the various sites are to be believed. How handy that they write its serial number on the roof
A very nice and thorough impression can be found here, this Bertone Mini has won the hearts of lots of people, not specially because its handling (although it is fast enough), but more because it is special AND it is nice. There are many unique styling points such as the red door mirrors, a carbon fiber rear spoiler, a unique body kit, specially designed four-spoke alloy wheels and specialized badging. This Mini is available in just one colour scheme, Thunder Blue with a Pure Silver roof. Blue? Looks grey to me… Oh well, nice car!
Or… is it just brilliant marketing?

Have you driven a Mini? If you want to lower the windows, you will find the switch at the… roof (?). To view the speed uou have to take your eyes of the road and look (depending in which country) to the right. It’s just nut the most practical car.

Yeah, well… seems that most of the good looking, or fast, or exciting cars are unpractical. Part of the deal, so to speak. Makes it still a nice car!

Lots of the original Mini experience is lost on the new Mini but i must say that the fast-and-funny versions are thrilling as well. You say it is not practical, the original Mini sure was not practical either!!! It os a shame the rules made them build a safe and modern car, so it is bigger and still smaller for its inhabitants that the real Mini.
This GP looks great, if you want to have a new Mini, why not one of these?>

I am not sure if you see cars in their context or not. “Exciting cars are unpractical”; why would this car be exciting? It’s just a hyped car for real estate agents. The old mini compared to it’s rivals back in the days was quite a practical car. It was in a time people had to be content with a beetle, a 2cv or a bubble car. Not very safe, but at least it had proper brakes and steering. Nowadays, there are loads of cars which are practical, small, economical. The only thing this mini has in common is that it has an engine in the front, 4 wheels and the name.
