DAF 66 1300

This being a Dutch car blog, the inevitable is about to happen… I am posting a DAF! I know very little about this car, I don’t really want to extend my knowledge about DAF and its history. But with a Dutch-based car site, DAF has to have it’s own little niche. And here it is!

The little sedan does not look half bad for its age, I must admit. It is a funny little bugger, and I know there exists a well-sized group of fierce enthusiasts for these cars. Facts about the car are in short supply, I am afraid. I can mumble something about the Variomatic transmission system. Most readers would know more about this continuous variable transmission than I do, so lets just skip that… šŸ˜‰ Intelligent remarks in the comments, please. Enlighten us!

What would you like to know? They started in 1958 with the 600, although in the past they already had experience in making cars “just look in the DAF-museum for the “rolling raincoat”…

This is the last in the line, the 66. When Volvo took over the passenger car division they got the design for a new DAF, the 77, as well. This was to be sold as the Volvo 343 and reason for Volvo to get in at the first place.
