Let’s stay with Ford for a while. On Coolhaven, I spot this green old Taunus XL Automatic. Comparing it with pictures online, I would say it is a 1970-1976 Taunus TC. Especially when I look at the bonnet of the car. Sure enough, the headlights match with the older XL, but that $%&(*^ hood! Is that, or is it not, the Knudsen nose?! Oh well, I think this vinyl-roofed old car is nice to look at (it could use a wash, though
)
My father used to own a Mark 3 Taunus in 1980, so I have nice memories of the car as a little boy. That said, I remember the day he replaced the old pale green Taunus with a crispy white Sierra hatchback, and that was quite a change… which itself pretty quick was replaced by a Ford Scorpio 1. A Ford fan back in the days, we can conclude.
This spot reminds me that I have spotted a vintage Taunus before, so I have to do some digging in the heap of old car pictures, but in the near future I will post another Taunus here. A 20M, if memory serves me correctly.

It says on the back it is an XL.. Why doubt it?

Lots of BMW’s say they are M-something as well… If I compare the hood and ‘nose’ with other pictures, I very much see the TC in it. It isn’t tht important, just nice to hobby with

Nice link! But I still am confused. It says the TC is the generation of the model, and the XL the ‘amount of luxury’. This is not what for instance wikipedia says.
But do you understand why I doubt my determination of the model? It opens the possibility of a commenter’s reply with nice and informing links!

I understand. Wikipedia is not heaven. It is not the ultimate source. For instance, I added a piece on Pieper, later I found out that there is a Soest in Germany too. It was a German inventor who made the first hybrid car and that in or around 1901. The car was made in Belgium.

It’s 100% Ford Taunus TC 1 (knudsen) XL 2d sedan. Produced since 09/1970 till 08/1973 -prefacelift version. The car on fotos has been repainted propably. Things missing are fender badges, decorative side bars and. fender chrome (zn-alu) bars. It looks like it has an automatic C3 gearbox, so the car can not have 1300 engine. It’s 1600 pinto engine, or 2.0/2.3 cologne V6. Beautiful one.
