Fortunately, I seem to have salvaged quite a lot of pictures from the old site, so I will be posting a lot the following days I reckon. That is, if I can find the time to do so… Anyway, another classic example of ‘how the hell did it end up in my neighborhood‘, the Rayton Fissore Magnum.
This big fella is build on an Iveco chassis by the body shop of Giulio Malvino, and if internet is to believed, the Fissore in its name is a tribute to famous car designer Fissore, or more likely, his daughter, because Giulio married her
. The big Fiat Uno design-predecessor is developed bij Tom Tjaarda.
Brought to the market in Europe with Alfa Romeo engines in 1984, ranging from a two-liter petrol engine to a 2.5 litre V6 with a price tag that humbled the Range Rover V8… We might think it looks like a big Uno, it sure doesn’t operate as cheap as one. In 1989 they switched to BMW engines, and in 1991 they had to close the shop for this giant. Nowadays, Monster Motorsports tries to keep this car alive in the USA, Tom Tjaarda redesigned it to give it a modern look and it is fitted with a Ford V8. Apparently, they are particularly suited to be rebuild as armored cars.
Anyway, I found a technical overview:
Its quite a search for specs on a car that doesn’t even have an entry on wikipedia
so feedback is appreciated!

10 Jan // Oct 26, 2007 at 12:24
Do you know the song from Sting, “An Englishman in New York”?
11 Rolph // Oct 26, 2007 at 15:48
Yeah… but what has that to do with anything?

“Englishman In New York”
I don’t drink coffee I take tea my dear
I like my toast done on one side
And you can hear it in my accent when I talk
I’m an Englishman in New York
See me walking down Fifth Avenue
A walking cane here at my side
I take it everywhere I walk
I’m an Englishman in New York
I’m an alien I’m a legal alien
I’m an Englishman in New York
I’m an alien I’m a legal alien
I’m an Englishman in New York
If, “Manners maketh man” as someone said
Then he’s the hero of the day
It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile
Be yourself no matter what they say
I’m an alien I’m a legal alien
I’m an Englishman in New York
I’m an alien I’m a legal alien
I’m an Englishman in New York
Modesty, propriety can lead to notoriety
You could end up as the only one
Gentleness, sobriety are rare in this society
At night a candle’s brighter than the sun
Takes more than combat gear to make a man
Takes more than a license for a gun
Confront your enemies, avoid them when you can
A gentleman will walk but never run
If, “Manners maketh man” as someone said
Then he’s the hero of the day
It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile
Be yourself no matter what they say
I’m an alien I’m a legal alien
I’m an Englishman in New York
I’m an alien I’m a legal alien
I’m an Englishman in New York

well, he was an englishman in new york, a legal alien, like a Dutchman in York (well, Herefordshire)
I hope it makes more sense now?
