Toyota Landcruiser BJ45 HT LD

September 9th, 2007 by Waizfisz · 18 Comments

Walking through my parents street I spotted this landcruiser. I don’t know much about it but it seemed a non ordinary car to me. Are there readers out there who can tell us more about this car?

    this is a sixties Land Rover. immensely popular in the states, sold the 50000 cars and 100000 cars mark in ’65 and ’68. a true workhorse, and the first batch of land cruisers with low rev gearing

    It’s a 45 series Landcruiser, made until the mid- 80′s. Came with a petrol engine, a 3.4 L 4 cylinder diesel (3B)or a 4,1L 6 cylinder diesel (2H).

    I’ve had the pleasure of owning one of those with the 3B engine.

    Well whooptidoo! Good for you, but being owners of this car, do you have something to add for all of us, or are you just satisfied by bragging about it? Come on, share!

    this is a “buschtaxi” model without winch (or someone stolen) I own shorter one BJ40 but looks quite same, there is lot of “original” details not “customized” like most of in that age

    This vehicle is also known as a “troopy” (troop carrier). These are almost indestructable. The entire roof and top half of the vehicle can be removed easily to convert it to an open-air vehicle, for example – it simply bolts off. The short wheel based models (or “shorty’s”) are extremely popular and are often modified and used as “crawlers”. The 4.0 litre diesel engine is the same one you will find in the older Dyna truck. A number of these vehicles are still in daily use on farms in the Australian Outback. These were also manufactured as a pick-up truck (HJ45)

    My dad bought this wagon brand new in 1982 in Kuwait. Me and my brother Alan were together with my dad went to pick up the vehicle. We drove all over the Gulf States. It’s has indestructible 6 cly straight engine and heavy duty gear box. It has sentimental value and we shall never sell. Hopeful she’ll move with us to California soon.

    it has a 3.8 liter diesel engine with 6 straight six cylinders.commonly none as 2h engine. very heavy compare to its shorter bj 40 version

    none=known?

  • 12 Gusta // May 24, 2009 at 16:18

    Can I buy it, please ?

  • 13 jurr // Jun 1, 2009 at 21:49

    the hj45 doesn’t has the 2H engine!that is just the H engine the 2 H engine is the one in the hj60.
    the bj45 is the one with 4 cilinder diesel engine
    fj45 is the petrol version and the hj is the 6 cilinder diesel. the letter J means landcruiser. in the beginning they were cald jeep but the americans didn’t like that thus they were cald landcruiser (after the studebaker landcruiser) and the letter J stayed in the factory name
    . the 4 of 40 means that it is the 4 generation and number after that is the caroserie type.
