Reliant Scimitar GTE

December 3rd, 2008 by Rolph · 1 Comment

One of the first special cars I spotted with the camera phone on my then new Nokia N82 was a Reliant Scimitar cabriolet. A GTC, I now know. When taking the pictures, all I knew was that I was amazed about the properties on the car. Unfortunately, the stock memory cards in these Nokia’s are as shit as 1970’s USSR cars, so you guess what happened… the card got fried, I lost lots of interesting photos, texts, and stuff. Oh well, it happens. Anyway, I was quite happy spotting this Scimitar some months later. A bit less special than the GTC, but still a great car to run into

Now this is what I would call a shooting brake. The proportions on the car are, well, to say the least, a bit curious. But I love it! What a car, it has so much character. We all have heard of Reliant because of the famous three-wheeled Robin, obviously, but look at this beast?! It is marvellous. The back is a bit dodgy, though. I appreciate the fact that they have done some nice engineering on removing hinges, but I can’t say it is the best looking back window I have ever seen… For the rest, it is brilliant!

The story behind this car is pretty interesting. It involves Israel company Auto Cars, designer Ogle and a company most known for making three wheelers.
