The last spots all weren’t from Coolhaven. Moving away, I know that Coolhaven spots will get rarer and rarer, so I am happy to see that this nice Italian truly exclusive and unique car puts up to the curb this last sunny Saturday. The Flaminia is quite a rare car to spot in the Netherlands, or anywhere for that matter, really. Normally, of all possible body styles of a car I appreciate the coupé versions the best. In this car, however, this is not the case. No, it is not the hand build four door sedan version (the Berlina), I am particularly fond of both the Lancia Flaminia GT Superleggera Cabriolet as well as the… Lancia Flaminia Sport Zagato. Not surprisingly
This coupé is not an ugly duckling, don’t get me wrong. It really is a nice car. A proper Italian car, good looking (I have said it before, and I will say it again: Pininfarina!), and fairly nice to drive.
The Flaminia Coupé was obviously designed by Pininfarina, and built by the coachbuilder. It was very similar to the Florida II prototype with a 2+2 layout and had a shortened wheelbase, as all 2-door versions. The Coupé has a front nearly identical to the Berlina, but the headlight frames are completely round, whereas they point slightly upwards in the sedan. 5,236 Coupés (4,151 with the 2.5, 1,085 with the 2.8) were built until 1967.
