Nissan Pao

April 1st, 2008 by Rolph · 2 Comments

A what? A Nissan Pao! Nope, this is not an April’s Fools day prank, it actually is a car! A specially designed city car by Naoki Sakai, build in 1989. A funny looking pale blue retro car, I truly don’t understand why they stopped making these within three months. After the Silver Wraith II, this is the second ‘old’ set of pictures from a 2006 London trip, and there is even a Jaguar XK140 Roadster still waiting to be posted too! How on earth did I forget all these car pictures?! Oh well, they are here now and that’s what counts.

The pictures were taken at night, so the quality isn’t all that brilliant…

A small and economical alternative to Nissan’s K10 Micra, the Pao was a versatile machine designed to fulfill multiple roles as a city car, retro design statement, and fashionable accessory. It is equipped with a 1.0 liter engine. The Nissan Pao is still popular with collectors, aficionados and anyone wanting a stylish retro car with excellent fuel economy and low upkeep costs; its very limited production run (orders were taken only until April 14th 1989, three months after they started) has helped the car to achieve cult status. The Nissan Pao was only ever manufactured in Japan, and with only around 10,000 models produced they are rare even there.
