Jaguar XJS in red

March 23rd, 2008 by Rolph · No Comments

When there are a number of cars on your site, you tend to start getting doubles. Normally, I would ignore those cars, but this Jag was too pretty to pass by… The silvery green one was nice, but this really is a looker! And this is a very nice car equipped with a nice engine, the 5.3 liter HE V12! A ‘High Efficiency’ V12… now isn’t that a contradictio in terminus? This version of the engine used the special high swirl design ‘May’ cylinder head, and had an unusually high compression ratio (10.5:1 – 12.5:1 depending on market and year). In any given market, power levels remained similar to the previous model, but fuel economy was up by nearly 50%. The HE V12 engines had a fuel injection or engine control system from Lucas that was based on the Bosch P-Jetronic system.

For all the specs, and the story behind the strange design at the back of the car, see the other two Jaguar XJS’s… I am happy to see the regular brake lights on this red shiny Jaguar, the green one had tail lights that really puzzled me :-)
