Dodge Fire truck, model T5

Happy New Year !

A special! I didn’t really spot this Dodge firetruck but am actually working on it in my plating shop to make it pretty and shiny again! Chroming the rusted parts and cleaning the stainless steel. We have already done some extensive plating on several parts over the past years but its nearly finished now.

This fire truck has 6 cilinders, 6200cc and was build in November 1947 at the chrysler factories in the states. It has equipment mounted on it made by Brandspuitenfabriek van Bergen @ Heiligerlee. It pumps 2800 of water at 8 BAR. The engine consumes 1 liter of petrol every 3 km’s !

The truck was actively used untill 1983 with only 10.000 kilometers. One of the major fires its been active at was the big Palace Hotel fire in 1978.

I see you are cornering the heavy duty trucks segment on this site 😉 Oh well, let’s see if you do as well as with the BJ45… But, since it is in your shop, you should take some better pictures! The detailing on this car is probably very nice

Thanks for your comment Nollie, you found this post so quickly ! Do you have your trucks listed online? You mention in your comment thats its a 48 Dodge. My info however tells me that it rolled out the factory in 47. Can you provide us with more information on this model?

    Lex,

Your truck is a 1948 model Dodge Truck. Like today’s cars / trucks, the model year changed in the fall of each year. 1948 was the first year of Dodge’s Pilot House style cabs, with the lights in the fenders for the first time. Before this all lights were mounted on top of the fenders. Of course their were other changes also.

You can thank Google for the quick find. Google emails me, when new items are found with the wording Dodge Fire Truck.

No I do not have a website with my Dodge Fire Trucks, some are shown on various websites. Here’s a link to a USA site, related to fire trucks, this link goes straight to section on Dodge Fire Trucks.

I’ve already posted a photo of your truck.

You can email me direct, if you need more information on Dodge trucks, especially Fire Trucks!! Keep me posted on this nice 48 truck.

EDIT: mail removed… You would get spammed quite severely. Lex has the mailaddress in his inbox now!

Hey Lex, any progress on this truck? Interesting facts, new pictures? Is the project finished, or did you take to many days off to go skiing? 😉
